Lord Mahavira Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, LudhianaBorn out of the generosity of the Jain Community this pioneering institute was established in 1976 under the auspicious of Lord Mahavir Foundation (Regd.) Punjab. Unlike all other institutions representing one or the other wing of Jain Community, it has the glaring feature of the united efforts of all the sects and it represents them under one banner.

Initially, the institution was started in Smt. Satyavati Oswal Dharmshala, opposite old session Court, Ludhiana, built by Late Seth Sh. Lachhman Dass Oswal in the sacred memory of his wife. Soon after the construction of a big project was taken up on 21000 sq. yards of land, on the Rajpura road, Dr. Hahnemann Chowk, at a short distance from the New Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana. Now a portion of the college building has been completed at the cost of nearly Rs. 3 Crores and College with 80 bedded indoor hospital along with three O.P.D.(s) are running there.

Neither the Community nor the Public at large will forget the names of Sh. Dharam Paur Oswal, Sh. Hira Lal Jain, Atam Nagar, founders of the Institution for their selfless dedications to this noble cause. This Institution is now the best amongst the Private Homoeopathic Medical Colleges in Northern India.

At present the college is running following O.P.D.(s) at the campus: Homoeopathic OPD (General), Homoeopathic OPD (Special), Dental OPD (Equipped with fully modern 2 Dental Chairs), Gynae OPD (provided with fully fleged operation theatre and 30 beds for indoor admissions) & Eye Hospital.

It is worth mentioning that the college is already running one of its peripheral OPD at Atam Public Senior Secondary School, Atam Nagar Ludhiana. In addition to the above, the institution has also started another new OPD namely “Mahavir Rural Health Centre” at village Hussain-pura, situated at a distance of about 6 Km from the college. The college has also a spacious “Auditorium” with the capacity of 300 seats with all facilities and for multipurpose usage such as conducting general meetings, various types of seminars and functions, and as well as holding the Examinations etc.

The college has a spacious and well-set “Library” and at present, there are over 4200 books in the Central Library with subscription of many valuable periodicals & journals. As far the teaching faculty of the college, all the members of the teaching staff of this college are fully proficient and well versed with maximum experience and are fully competent to take up the higher medical classes such as MD course in Homoeopathy.
